Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located in the north of the Langcuo 20 km to the east of the Angren County, Tibet. It was named by the Comprehensive Research Expedition under the Tibetan Geological Bureau in 1978.


Lithology and Thickness

Limestone. Grey thin- and thick-bedded massive limestones, bioclastic limestone and a small amount of shale. Thickness is over 288 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Uncertain contact relationship with the underlying strata. Next older regional unit (or partly coeval?) is the Lasaila Limestone Fm

Upper contact

Possible next-younger regional unit (or coeval) is the Xiukang Fm

Fossils

Abundant marine animal fossils, including Ammonoids such as Timorites, Altudoceras, Paraceltites and Stacheoceras; Conodonts represented by Neogondolella, Corals such as Timorphyllum, Verbeekiella, Waagenophyllum and Sochkineophyllum; and Brachiopods such as Spiriferella, Marginifera, Leptodus and Stenoscisma.
